In its place, the infamous PBS header, and no exhaust. We decided to execute a series of tests, only we weren't testing anything except how loud the car would be. The results are in:
No exhaust system = unbelievable noise, smoke and power. Deven made the initial test run. While the car was reluctant to start at first, it eventually fired up amongst a huge cloud of smoke. The car roared down the street with the noise of an authentic race car. Unbelievable. Ulix, Iain (a yet to be converted soul), and I stood by while the small neighborhood of Magnolia was terrorized by Deven, again and his hopped up beast. The sound of the car could be heard clearly from many blocks away.
If you ever have the opportunity to try this out, do. You will be both shocked and pleased. We didn't record the noise, but you can't really reproduce that type of noise on a WAV files anyhow.

I would be more than willing to drive without the exhaust ,much to the displeasure of my neighbors, if I could have the car sound like this everyday. However, I am fairly sure that such wide disregard for the public noise regulations is not only going to earn me a ticket or two, but possibly more hassle than I am intersted in handling.
Damn. Oh, well. Tomorrow the much vaunted Stupertrapp gets installed, quite regretably I might add. In terms of imperical data, the car has more power, and I think that I can say such even subtracting the quantative effect of how damn loud the thing is. The power delivery is totally transformed. Now, the car just goes and goes, with linear delivery for as long as you stay on the gas. Before, it seemed that there was quite a relaxed power delivery from about 3000 until about 5500, where the engine seemed to run out of steam. With the new header, it runs strong all the way till about 7500. The PBS header is certainly treating me right, plus its just so damn juvenille to have the car be as loud as it is.
