This post is simply to serve as a record of all that's been done to the vehicle as time passes.
I'd also be curious if anyone else here has done a full teardown and chemical dip before/how that went.
Many original parts will be for sale at the time of this post. If there's anything specific you are looking for just ask and I'll see if I have it. Primarily what will be for sale is engine/ trans parts since I'm doing a swap.
As it was found in an abandoned shop October 2021
Original interior door panels in good shape
As well as the dash
Moved into a small garage to begin disassembly.
Removed all the carpet, insulation and a few other bits.
X1/20 evidence
Full interior disassembly, dash, venter console and all wiring.
Wiring harness removed after many, many hours of work.
Buttresses removed
Engine and trans removed.
Suspension, bumpers, radiators and many other things removed in preparation for it being chemical dipped.
Gas tank removed
Rear cross member removed. I believe the last things I need to remove from the car is everything in the tunnel (which may be quite difficult to access for me) the doors, and the glass. At this point all the suspension is gone from underneath, all the wiring is out, brake, fuel, and clutch lines are out. I have yet to find out how to remove the hot water lines from the tunnel since it looks like they're tac welded in. As always any comments or info is welcome.
