I want to repaint so that strip has to come off. But is it glued or bolted from inside? And schould it be removed together with the rubber weatherstripping underneath it? En how to remove the two rubber pads at the rear and the front of it?
Sorry, i could not find the answer here though there should be a thread allready, i think
Thanks!

That strip is held on with clips, onto the top edge of the door. However there is also a tiny hidden screw at the rear end of it that must be removed first. The head of the phillips screw will be buried in the soft trim. Once it is out use a plastic tool to pry the trim upward off the clips.

Thanks a lot! Almost at the same time i received an answer on Facebook. Almost the same answer. The tiny screw is not mentioned, but now i am warned.

Succeded. There was no scew in my model 1980 (Californian). The best is to slide a thin plastic plate (or later more thicker plates) along the strip so there is allready a few mm's space before prying it upward.

Mine X is missing the inner weatherstrips . Anyone got an image of one so I can look for a universal replacement. Maybe?
Thanks Doug

you probably won't find anything universal, but Matt at Midwest bayless, or Chris Obert at Fiatplus will probably have them

I found a universal product to replace the "fuzzy" strips. It comes in a 10 foot stick that you cut to length (enough to do two cars). There are several different types/shapes available from places that specialize in restoration products for antique cars. One of them was a direct match for the X. But I don't recall off hand the brand or specific model number. I just took a sample from the X to the restoration supply shop and matched it with their selection. It ran about $30 for the 10' piece, or $15 per car (both doors). I don't know but I imagine that is what is sold from the Fiat vendors.

oh wait, is he talking about the whole chrome strip or just the fuzzy part?
I was referring to the metal trim channel with the fuzzy included. I don't think the fuzzy can be replaced alone due to the way it is crimped into the metal channel.

Here’s a few pics of the fuzzy weather strip. You can clearly see the hole that the little screw goes through to secure it. There is also a much smaller one that goes where the small stationary window is located.

yeah, midwest has them, used, and even one NOS. I couldn't remember if you could take out the fuzzy part (seems like you should but...) So you might find universal somewhere, at a better price, but sometimes paying a few more bucks is worth the headache, lol
